Eva Watson Obituary

Eva Penny Watson, 80 went home to be with  her Lord and Savior peacefully with her family beside her, Thursday morning, February 29, 2024. She was born 3rd, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York to Orlando and Nettie (Sanft) Penny.

She graduated with honors from Midwood High School in Brooklyn. Upon graduation she went to New York State University. When she graduated from the University she worked in several businesses in junior executive positions.

She accepted Christ as her Savior after her second husband passed away. She was offered an executive position with a new company in Tucson, Arizona. She was the Director of Employees and Human Resources, for Taconic Industries. As a mother she was active in Boy Scouts and in her children's school activities, and very active in her church.

One group that she volunteered for was the Pima County Sheriff Reserves. With a family history in Law-enforcement, her father had been with the New York City Police Department for over forty years, when a deputy slot came open, she applied and was accepted to the academy. She was in her forties and being a women was not expected to graduate. She graduated as one of the top three graduates. Because of her intelligence and hard work, she excelled in every area she was placed in. As a training instructor she was meticulous about her trainees learning the right way of law-enforcement. She was the first women to be promoted to Sergeant from patrol. She received several honors as deputy and as a Sergeant she received one of the highest honors given to a Pima County Public Safety Officer, the Distinguished Service Award. Her last position with the department was as head of the Court Enforcement Division before she retired.

In 1993 her daughter introduced her to John Watson. On March 24, 1998, they were married. In December 1999, they were introduced to the Middle Verde Rock Church, the oldest Baptist mission Church in Arizona. In March 2000 they were called to minister to the Church.

Eva is preceded in death by her mother and father and a half sister, Francis. She is survived by her loving husband John W. Watson, her four children David, Daniel, James, and Mary Elizabeth and seven grandchildren. She is also survived by her adopted children, Nicole and Robert Jamison.

Our Family wishes to express our thankfulness and appreciation to Maggie's Hospice, and to Eva's nurse Carmela and tech Jennifer.

I, John Watson, wish to express my love and gratitude to Robert and Nicole who gave Eva twenty-four/ seven loving care for two years.

A Memorial Service in honor of Eva will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Middle Verde Rock Church, 2221 Reservation Loop Road at 11 AM.
