Kathleen Johnson Obituary

Our beautiful, selfless, loving, Kathleen slipped peacefully away at home in the loving care of family March 23, 2024 in Pleasant Grove, Utah after a valiant fight with vascular dementia.

Our feisty, sweet, valiant, Kathleen Dewey Johnson was born January 31, 1937 in Maywood, Los Angeles, California. Her childhood was a happy one. She loved animals and enjoyed being around them. Kathleen also loved flowers; her favorite was the Plumeria flower with it incredible scent and beautiful melon color. In the past, only royalty were allowed to wear the Plumeria flower due to its wonderful smell. Like the symbolism of the plumeria flower's five petals, Kathleen possessed sincerity, faith, devotion, aspiration, and surrender. We will miss her incredibly, yet, as the Plumeria flower represents birth and love; spring and new beginnings, we know that she is starting her own new beginning on the other side of the veil. Even as we feel the deep loss of her company here, she is welcomed in loving embrace there.

Kathleen married David Allen Andrew in 1958; they were blessed with four beautiful children. They later divorced. Kathleen adored her children and worked with dedication to give her children a wonderful life sacrificing everything to provide for them, she was a lioness of a mother protecting and nurturing her children. Through her example she taught unconditional love and hard work.

Kathleen worked as a word processor in the aerospace industry at Ford aerospace in Newport Beach as she provided for her family and continuously increased her skill, ability, and opportunity.

Kathleen was married in 1996 and later sealed to Thomas Newton Johnson in the San Diego temple. They shared their lives together for 28 years living the majority of their marriage in Camp Verde, Arizona where they built a wonderful life enjoying dear friendships with cherished neighbors, and friends.

Among many of the challenges Kathleen overcame in her life, was that of surviving thyroid cancer. Her determination and strong will surpassed the challenges that life threw her way.

Kathleen was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many faithful capacities throughout her life. A few memorable callings were Ward Bulletin, Family History Consultant, Overseeing Welfare Food order distribution, and other callings which she fulfilled with innovative, creative, and organized, dedicated service.

Kathleen is survived by her husband, Thomas; children, Allen (Debra) Andrew; Lindy (Scott) Workman; Lana (Leland) McClure; Julie (Michael) Becker; grandchildren, Katie, Kristen ,Tanner, Nathan, Ivan, Rene, David, Hannah, Mallory, Meghan, Kai, Madison, London; step-grandchildren, Jeff, Brian, Jeremy, Theresa, Bethany, Rebecca, Sabrina, Charity, Benjamin, Robert, Emily, April, Natiri, Aunalisa; great grandchildren; Kyler, Kaycee, Brynnlee, Briana, Tristan, Madison, Brennan, Andrew, Kaylee, Aspyn, Keyton, Gabe, Alexis, Samantha, Michael, Connor, Jeffrey, Makela, Lucy, Stella, Gwen, Liam, Jane, Claire, Finn, Scottie, Andie, Aulora, Alma, Zachariah, Zion, Benjamin Jr, Kimberlee, David, Luci, Aiden, Caleb, Gabriel, Liam, Genevieve, Peter, Skie, Damien, Christien, Brighton, Xander, and Adele; great great grandchildren, Elwyn, and Thomas, with another great great grandchild due in August; Sisters; Phyllis Hamilton, and Nancy Rice, and many loving family members and friends.
